DEADLINE EXTENDED!!
For details, contact Virginia Pickles at ginnyp@medcomspec.com

Dear Colleagues,

Contact Lens Spectrum, with support from CooperVision, will produce a special calendar for 2009. We are in the process of collecting the images that will be featured each month, and we are asking for your help.

We are looking for unique, interesting, intriguing, thought-provoking, or even  amusing  images. These can be slit lamp photos, fluorescein photos, topography images, OCT images, illustrations or other types of graphics.  Any image you submit must be from a case you manage or resolved in your contact lens practice. These images must be high-resolution for printing (300 dpi minimum). Submit all images via the web form link on this web page or on CD-ROM to: CLS Special Projects, 1300 Virginia Dr, Suite 400, Fort Washington, PA 19034.

If we select your image for the calendar, we will ask you to write a 350- to 500-word case report, describing what is pictured, how the patient presented, your diagnosis and treatment, as well as the outcome or conclusion. These narratives will be posted on a special Contact Lens Spectrum Web page, also supported by CooperVision, throughout 2009. (You may submit additional images to illustrate your case on the Web site.)

We will protect the privacy of your patients; however, each practitioner submitting images is responsible for obtaining his or her patient’s permission to reproduce the image.

All images will become the property of Contact Lens Spectrum. Each photo reproduced in the Contact Lens Spectrum calendar will feature the practitioner’s name, the practice name and location, and a brief description or caption for the image. Readers will be directed to the Web site to read about each case and outcome in further detail.

Contact Lens Spectrum is offering an honorarium of $500 - paid upon publication of the calendar -if your image and accompanying case report are chosen for inclusion.

Deadline for submitting images for consideration is June 6.  All authors whose images are selected will be notified by mid-June. Case reports and any additional images will be due by July 14.

We are very excited to be able to offer this unique contact lens-related calendar — our first ever — to our readers.  Its success depends on your participation. So if you’ve ever been intrigued, startled or moved in some way by a memorable patient presentation, please consider sharing these images with your colleagues.
