Zeiss Vision Care is introducing Zeiss MyoActive, a myopia management spectacle lens solution for children to slow myopia progression. According to the company, Zeiss MyoActive lenses use Dynamic Signal Theory that combines myopic defocus, which provides the biological signal to help slow eye growth, with dynamic signal variation to help maintain retinal responsiveness. In Zeiss MyoActive lenses, this principle is applied through patented M.O.V.E. (Micro Optical Variable Elements) technology, which is a nonrepetitive layout of microstructures that creates continuously changing retinal signals as the eye moves naturally throughout the day. As a result, the optical signal remains active and variable rather than static, which helps to reduce visual adaptation. The back surface is optimized using ZeissClearFocus design. It minimizes hyperopicdefocus in the periphery of the lens.
These lenses are currently available Canada and several European markets. They are being researched and reviewed in several other markets including China and the United States but do not have approval there yet.
