Effective October 1, 2026, Jesper Wiegandt has been appointed CEO of Zeiss Vision Care. In this role, he assumes responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the business while also continuing to serve as acting chief commercial officer of Zeiss Vision Care. He succeeds Sven Hermann who remains CEO of Zeiss Consumer Markets, and continues to lead the Zeiss Consumer Markets board of management.
Wiegandt joined Zeiss in 2022 as chief marketing officer for Zeiss Vision Care and was appointed chief commercial officer in January 2026. During his tenure, he has played a key role in strengthening the Zeiss consumer brand, expanding brand awareness, and advancing the Zeiss Vision Care business. Before joining Zeiss, he held international leadership positions at Procter & Gamble and later founded his own strategy and marketing consultancy business.
In other executive news, Zeiss has appointed Axel Christian president of Zeiss North America, a newly created position that brings the technology company’s activities in the United States and Canada under a unified regional organization. In the role, Christian will lead initiatives across the region, identify growth opportunities in the North American market, and promote collaboration among Zeiss's business segments, including its medical technology and vision care operations. He has more than 20 years of experience in strategic management positions. He previously served as head of corporate finance and controlling at Zeiss headquarters in Oberkochen, Germany, and, most recently, as CFO of Zeiss Greater China. He will be based at the Zeiss Innovation Center California in Dublin, California.
