Objective:

To describe the fitting of scleral lenses for a patient with dry eye and presbyopia.

Approach:

• Patient Case: A 79-year-old female with a history of ocular conditions was fitted with scleral lenses to address blurry vision and ocular surface dryness.
• Lens Design: Customizable scleral lenses with center-near and center-distance optics were trialed to accommodate the patient's visual demands.
• Fitting Process: The patient evaluated visual quality subjectively, preferring center-near lenses for both distance and near vision.

Key Findings:

• The patient achieved satisfactory visual performance despite some lens decentration.
• Final over-refraction improved distance visual acuity to 20/20.
• The patient reported resolution of dryness symptoms and improvement in corneal staining.

Limitations:

• The study is based on a single patient case.

Conclusion:

The patient experienced significant improvement in vision and dryness symptoms after using scleral lenses.
